Common procedures include Atrial Fibrillation ablation, Ablation of the SVT, Ablation of complex arrhythmias, Cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, and left atrial appendage closure

Atrial fibrillation ablation

This is a minimally invasive procedure where we use specialized tools in order to access the heart and create a 3D map. A high density mapping system allows us to determine the precise sites of the heart that are the cause of the disorganized heart beat. We then treat these sites with different energy sources. After treatment has been performed, we confirm the therapy was successful. All of this is performed utilizing a vein that is being accessed from the groin. This is considered an outpatient procedure and most of the patients are discharged on the same day.

SVT and VT (Ventricular tachycardia) ablation

Patients receive appropriate sedation. Using specialized wires, we access the heart from the blood vessel in the groin and we determine the actual abnormality within the electrical function of the heart utilizing a high density locating software. The abnormality is then treated and the procedure is then considered complete. Patients typically go home on the same day.

Pacemaker

Patient receives the appropriate sedation and the pacemaker or the defibrillator is inserted under the skin, close to the collarbone in the chest wall. This device is then connected to the heart via a communicating vein. The skin is closed using skin glue and the pacemaker starts functioning immediately. It can be adjusted in the clinic using an external device depending on each patient’s needs. This is an outpatient procedure and patients are typically being discharged on the same day.

Watchman (Left Atrial Appendage Closure)

Procedure is performed under anesthesia where we access a vein in the groin in order to reach the heart and deploy a small device called a watchman. This device is designed to close the pouch in the heart where all the causing stroke blood clots form. The patients are typically discharged on the next day.
